Till The Last Light Fades

The day before yesterday X left the house, excusing herself for not knowing better, using all the reasons you didn’t expect her to use. As the glass doors slid shut between you, she turned and walked away, slowly dissapearing into the ever present thick white fog. 

The door has stayed shut since she departed, and you have no intention of following her into the void that was the world. You had thought that now, in the end times, with so few of us left, it was important to stick together. You had hoped that this was reason enough for her to stay, but for your small efforts, with your desirable objects and all the comforts of your home, she still left.

All the items that you had amassed during the years before the incident, suddenly changed meaning. You had started out hoarding objects for the same reason as the others, and in the aftermath the gathering of things had taken on a new importance. You had wanted to make sure that the pieces were taken care of by someone who understood their meaning and worth, so you filled up every crook and cranny of your place with all these things.

Now you see things in a new light.

Erlend Grytbakk Wold (f. 1986, Trondheim) bor og arbeider i Oslo. Han er utdannet på Kunstakademiet ved Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo og Konsthögskolan i Malmö. Grytbakk Wold har nylig hatt separatutstillinger i galleri LNM i Oslo og BLOKK i Bergen. Han har også deltatt på gruppeutstillinger på blant annet Galleri Arnstedt og på Høstutstillingen. 

Till the Last Light Fades er støttet av Kulturrådet og er tildelt prosjektstøtte fra Kunstmuseet i Nord-Trøndelag. I 2017 ble Grytbakk Wold tildelt BKHs produksjonsstipend.
