At Trondheim Central Station (Trondheim S), Einar Grinde presents “Bruttonasjonalprodukt”, an installation exploring how technological change affects our place in society. Join us for the opening, with music by Jernbanens Musikkorps Trondheim, speeches and cake. The artist will be present.
What happens when something once indispensable loses its purpose? Throughout history, horses have served as working animals, a means of transport and symbols of strength and power. In monumental equestrian statues, rulers and military leaders have been immortalised on horseback in bronze and stone.
The horses in Einar Grinde’s installation are different. Made from waterproof fabric and suspended from straps, they have neither manes nor tails and bear little resemblance to the powerful horses of traditional equestrian statues. Technology has taken over many of the roles horses once played. Through these suspended figures, Grinde explores what such changes might mean for our own place in society.
Location: Trondheim S (Trondheim Central Station).
Free and open to everyone.
