On Saturday, 22 August, Trøndelag Bildende Kunstnere and Trøndelag senter for samtidskunst warmly welcome you to the opening of the 50th Trøndelagsutstillingen!

The opening event starts at Trøndelag senter for samtidskunst at 12:00 and then moves to Kullbingen at Nyhavna at 15:00. The opening day will therefore include a procession on foot from Fjordgata 11 to Strandveien 94, with the audience moving together between the two venues.

For 50 years, Trøndelagsutstillingen has presented artworks by a diverse range of artists connected to the Trøndelag region. This year’s edition consists of two exhibitions and presents a total of 38 artists/artist groups with 39 artworks.

The artists participating in Trøndelagsutstillingen 2026 are:

Walking Backwards into the Past

In keeping with the life reflections that often accompany turning 50, Trøndelagsutstillingen takes the opportunity to reflect on the past, the present and the future.

The jury has selected artworks that look both backwards in time – towards memories, lost ways of working and traces of lived lives – and forwards in time – towards new technological realities that challenge our notions of authenticity, experience and human judgement.

Across the artworks, the exhibition also explores who and what becomes visible, how we read the familiar and the unfamiliar, and what it means to be present or to belong. Body, landscape, material, technology and the gaze are interwoven in an exhibition where the past, present and possible futures continually shift and reshape one another’s perspectives.

The jury consists of artists Kristin Tårnes, Øystein Wyller Odden and Trine Lotte Krogseth.

As part of the opening event, artists Finn Adrian Jorkjen and Lisa Størseth Pettersen will both present new performative works. Pettersen’s performance Bli hos oss (Stay With Us), among other things, will take place outside Kullbingen and involves five cars, five female drivers and music by composer Agathe Backer Grøndahl (1847–1907).

In October, Trøndelagsutstillingen 2026 will travel on to Kunstmuseet Nord-Trøndelag in Namsos, where it will be on view until the end of the year.

Award Ceremony 2026 and Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, 12 September, Trøndelag senter for samtidskunst invites you to a double anniversary celebration at Kullbingen in Nyhavna. In 2026, the art centre celebrates its 50th anniversary, and Trøndelagsutstillingen is being held for the 50th time. We will mark these anniversaries with, among other things, a drawing workshop, performances, the Trøndelagsutstillingen award ceremony and an anniversary celebration.

At 19:00, we will present Trøndelagsutstillingen’s three art awards:

The Critics’ Award
The Debut Award
The NTNU Art Award

Following the award ceremony, the celebration continues with an anniversary party throughout the evening, with surprises along the way.

There will also be an opportunity to experience the performative works by artists Finn Adrian Jorkjen and Lisa Størseth Pettersen.

Drawing Workshop
Earlier in the day, we invite children and families to a drawing workshop with artist Jørgen Sellevold. The workshop takes place at Kullbingen from 14:00–15:30.

Artist Jørgen Münter Sellevold is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Art at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art and has recently been appointed project manager for street art in Trondheim Municipality. He approaches most projects through play and drawing and facilitates a simple and fun drop-in workshop.

Everything takes place at Kullbingen, next to Havet Arena, and everyone is warmly welcome to celebrate with us.

Utdeling av kunstprisene

Det knyttes stor spenning til Trøndelagsutstillingens fire kunstpriser, hvorav tre av disse deles ut på utstillingens åpningsdag.

Kritikerprisen på 50.000 kroner gis til en kunstner hvis kunstverk utmerker seg kvalitetsmessig, og er muliggjort gjennom et samarbeid med Kjell Erik Killi Olsen.

NTNUs Kunstpris på 20.000 kroner går til én av de deltakerne som har utdanning fra NTNU. Prisen setter søkelyset på det viktige samspillet mellom universitets- og kunstmiljøene i Trondheim.

Debutantprisen løfter frem unge kunstnerskap. Prismottakeren vil motta 10.000 kroner og prisen er generøst sponset av Østerlie Kunst og Farge AS.

Gratis omvisninger

Omvisning søndag 23. august kl. 13.00

I omvisningen vil kunstformidler Amalie Marie Selvik ta deg med på en runde i Trøndelagsutstillingen 2026 for å snakke om kunstverkene og hvordan hvordan de føyer seg inn i dagens aktuelle samtidskunstscene – nasjonalt og internasjonalt.

Omvisning fredag 11. september kl. 18.00.

I forbindelse med Kulturnatt Trondheim 2026 holder TSSK åpent til kl. 21.00, og kl. 18.00 blir det gratis omvisning med kunstformidler Amalie Marie Selvik. Hun vil ta deg med på en runde i Trøndelagsutstillingen 2026 for å snakke om kunstverkene og hvordan hvordan de føyer seg inn i dagens aktuelle samtidskunstscene – nasjonalt og internasjonalt.

Kulturnatt 2065

Kveldsåpent fredag 11. september

Kulturnatt Trondheim arrangeres fredag 11. september. Denne kvelden holder Trøndelag senter for samtidskunst langåpent for publikum frem til kl. 21.00.

Kullbingen i Strandveien 94 har også åpent denne fredagen fra kl. 17.00 – 21.00.
