Erle Saxegaard’s artistic practice brings together material-based exploration with performative and relational strategies. The body—its limits, ruptures, and capacity for adaptation—forms the core of her work.

In "Øvelser i å reparere" (Exercises in Repair), Saxegaard turns to the long history of votive traditions, in which body parts are offered as signs of injury, hope, or gratitude. Drawing on her own experiences of pain and bodily rupture, she approaches repair not as a restoration to a prior state of wholeness, but as an ongoing and incomplete practice. The sculptures, made of alabaster, soapstone, and steel, function both as bodily fragments and as ritual tools—objects that carry traces of what they have endured.

Erle Saxegaard (b. 1991, Oslo) works with sculpture, performance, installation, and choreography. She is based in Oslo, where she also teaches sculpture and modelling at Einar Granum School of Fine Art. Saxegaard holds an MFA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2020) and has previously exhibited at institutions such as the Norwegian Sculptors Society, Kunstnernes Hus, Bærum Kunsthall, and Telemark Kunstsenter, as well as in juried exhibitions including the Eastern Norway Exhibition and the Southern Norway Exhibition.
