Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art presents the exhibition "Jewellery 85-21. New thinking, new materials". A collaboration with Nordenfjeldske Transitt, and curators Sigurd Bronger and Kirsti Reinsborg Grov.

For this exhibition, the curators Sigurd Bronger and Kirsti Reinsborg Grov have dived deep into Nordenfjelske Kunstindustrimuseum's unique jewelery collection, and selected iconic jewelery from Norwegian and international artists, mainly from the 1980s. In addition, they have invited five younger jewelry artists, and six students from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts' Department of Metal and Jewelry Art to participate with new jewelry objects.

The artists are known for their craftsmanship and unique innovation in form and expression, and characteristic use of materials in their execution of the jewelry. Furthermore, their jewelry often communicates an idea or a message that gives the jewelry a clear personal artistic expression. As small sculptures or art objects, the jewelry does not always need to be regarded as decoration on the body.

Veronica Cheann, Kristine Ervik, Emil Gustafsson, Olaf T. Hodne, Runa V. Stølen, Kevin Axelsson, Josephine Echer, Marit Skevik Fujiwara, Jan Eric Wold Skevik, Thisbe Stadle, og Dariusz Wojdyga.

In the exhibition at Trøndelag Center for Contemporary Art, Sigurd Bronger and Kirst Reinsborg Grov explore how jewelery art has developed in the years since 1985. Are there new and groundbreaking materials used today? If so, what are these materials, and how are they expressed as elements in todays contemporary jewelry art?

Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art has received founding for the exhibition from Sparebankstiftelsen 1 SMN og Norsk Kulturråd.

Kirsti Reinsborg Grov og Sigurd Bronger

Sigurd Bronger (f. 1957) regnes blant samtidens ledende smykkekunstnere både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Hans smykkeobjekter inngår i offentlige og private samlinger både nasjonalt og internasjonalt, og han har en omfattende utstillingsvirksomhet i inn- og utland. Utover sitt kunstneriske virke, har Bronger markert seg som en viktig nasjonal stemme innen samtidig kunsthåndverk, både som kurator og gjennom ledende verv i kunstfeltet. Han er Professor II i metall og smykkekunst ved Kunsthøyskolen i Oslo.

Kirsti Reinsborg Grov (f. 1967) er kunsthåndverker med spesialisering innenfor metall og smykkekunst, og har lang fartstid i kunstfeltet og hennes verk er representert i nasjonale samlinger. Grov er født og oppvokst i Trondheim, og bor og virker i dag som kunsthåndverker i Oslo.
