Artist in Residence opportunities in Trøndelag

At TSSK, we dream of more artist-in-residence opportunities in Trøndelag, preferably outside the city. We have discovered that there are already numerous initiatives contributing to artists, curators, and critics having residencies in Trøndelag.

Several residency programs have been in existence for quite some time but struggle with securing funding and resources. Many aspire to start new initiatives, and some are already in the planning stages. Concurrently, people dream and desire to go to a place for tranquility and inspiration.

Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art hereby calls for a general meeting to gain an overview and take the first steps in establishing a network. We believe that a united network can help highlight various regional initiatives, secure funds, and maintain momentum when resources and time fall short.

What do you think about it?

Are you running an artist-in-residency in Trøndelag? Are you in the process of planning one, or do you know of someone who is? Are you familiar with the history of previous artist residency programs in Trøndelag? Please join us, share your insights and your experiences, meet others, and contribute to improving conditions for artist residencies in the region.

Questions to be addressed on the day include:

1. What initiatives exist for professional artists?
2. How can a strong network help overcome bureaucratic challenges? Some find it challenging to secure support from their municipality. Can a network and an art institution contribute to highlighting the public benefit of a residency program, making communication with bureaucracy easier?
3. Can we collaboratively work towards a clearer regional focus on artist residencies without streamlining initiatives?

From 12 PM, there will also be an opportunity to watch the film "Småfuglen letter" by Hans Kristian Borchgrevink Hansen.

The film was created during the artist's residency at the now-closed Ringsveen artist residence near Lillehammer, where the visual artist Jakob Weidemann lived for 40 years. A total of 15 artists have had residencies at Ringsveen since 2008.
