My Every Norwegian Christmas
In the middle of the December frenzy, artist Ana Dunjić opens a cultural decontamination bunker for people who feel misaligned in a month of forced cheer – with a properly sour pickle fountain, sculptural butter (nobody knows why), and aggressively complex cheeses. Because December is a psychological escape room, and we all need clues.
“My Every Norwegian Christmas” is a relational artwork unfolding in real time, in how we sit together a little awkwardly, anticipate with mild dread, and watch our shared discomfort slowly melt into connection and catharsis. (Trust me, it's bound to happen.)
A space for:
- Immigrants failing to decode December in Norway.
- Sámi natives, neo-pagans, vikings, and witches who center the solstice rituals.
- Minimalists personally offended by gift-mountain consumerist trash.
- The lonely people who don't get invited anywhere.
- Anyone who has quietly escaped a julebord to breathe in a stairwell, toilet, or walk-in freezer that is our natural habitat.
- We’ll spend the evening proudly owning our most extreme December character tropes, with taste, depth and humor, and discover the raw power and freedom of being a fully certified hater of juletid while everyone else is getting high on ribbe-based delulu.
- Event is held in English, native survivors are welcome.
Coming alone is thematically appropriate and warmly encouraged.
