NTNU’s TransFeminist Critical Pedagogies Network, a new network set up this year (see more below), is happy to announce their first event for 2025: Crafting Gender Joy seminar, workshop & dinner on Thursday, 24 April, 17:00-20:00.

Thursday, 24 April, at 17:00-20:00
Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art, Fjordgata 11, Trondheim

The workshop is hosted by Dr Francis Hartline, a gender diverse activist and artist with a deep love for all things crafty and queer!

The workshop is free and open to everyone, no matter your gender identity, artistic skills, or pedagogical background. If you are curious to hear more about the power of crafting workshops as a tool for enhancing engagement with heavy or complicated issues in both the classroom and community, as well as do a bit of reflective crafting yourself, then we encourage you to join.

More details on how it works: In this workshop, we will begin with a short discussion on what gender joy means, then a small warm-up exercise to get our creative juices flowing. The primary portion is an hour of crafting a personal collage with the provided supplies, including reused paper. Then there is an (optional) sharing of your work with your table group. In the last hour, we provide a vegetarian dinner hosted by the lovely Lamo Marked, yum!

Participation is free, just be sure to register by the end of Tuesday 22 April at this link.

TransFeminist Pedagogies Network at NTNU is a newly established network focussed on providing small events centred on transfeminist practices in teaching and learning.

The network has been funded by the NTNU’s Likestilling og Mangfold - Rektors Midler for 2025, via the Department of Teacher Education.

The co-leaders are Prof. Libe Garcia Zarranz, Prof. Tone Pernille Østern, and Dr Francis Hartline, who all share a deep interest in broadening and enrichening the discussion on how to create inclusive, inviting and expansive spaces for exploring novel ways for teaching and learning.
