We at Trøndelag Centre for
Contemporary Art would
like to welcome you to the opening on Friday September 3rd at 7 P.M!
Atle Selnes
Nielsen builds installations, constructions that tell us about actions taking
place. A behavior of development here and now during a conversion from i.e.
motion to sound. The word kinetic is in this context given a nostalgic
reference, and might remind us of time periods before the memory stick and
computer based motion.
Within
a closed circuit his installations move according to their own built-in
conditions. You could say that sound and metaphors are being generated by a
small universe or ecosystem.
By
using analogue technology and physical phenomenon, the artist wants to bring
forth problems around issues of man-machine, digital technology of today and
its consequences.
The
artist is working with wood, metal, water and air. Kitchen supplies and bicycle
parts, cassette-tapes and analogue electronics, pump systems and engines.
He has
constructed a new installation for the show at TSSK, and will also be
exhibiting drawings of this process.
The
installation includes moving rubber balls in various sizes connected to each
other with brass pipes, tubes and electrical cords.
